Jumpstart Continues to Break Down Barriers with $17,200 Grant to Project Skate Hockey Club

We are thrilled to announce that for the third time, Jumpstart has chosen to support Project Skate Hockey Club with a generous grant of $17,200.

This continued investment is more than just funding—it is a commitment to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience the life-changing benefits of hockey, regardless of their financial circumstances or background.

For many families, the cost of equipment, ice time, and registration fees can make hockey inaccessible. Thanks to Jumpstart's ongoing support, Project Skate Hockey Club can continue to operate as a low-barrier program, providing free and affordable opportunities for youth who might otherwise never have the chance to step onto the ice.

Our Take A Shot Free Learn to Play Program focuses on reaching children from communities that have historically been underrepresented in hockey, including youth from low-income households, racialized communities, girls, newcomers to Canada, and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. By removing financial barriers and creating welcoming, inclusive spaces, we are helping make hockey more reflective of the diverse communities we serve.

The impact of this funding extends far beyond learning how to skate or shoot a puck. Through participation in hockey, young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, improve their physical and mental well-being, and form lasting friendships. For many participants, our program serves as their first introduction to organized sport and opens the door to future opportunities both on and off the ice.

As hockey continues to grow, it is essential that the sport becomes more accessible to everyone. Jumpstart's support helps us ensure that no child is left on the sidelines because of financial hardship or a lack of opportunity.

We are incredibly grateful to Jumpstart for believing in our mission and for standing alongside us for a third time. Their partnership allows us to continue creating meaningful opportunities for youth and building a more inclusive future for hockey.

On behalf of our players, families, volunteers, and community partners, thank you, Jumpstart, for helping us make hockey possible for the next generation.
