Project Skate Hockey Club Receives $4,000 from Advance Brampton Fund to Support Free Learn-to-Play Program
We’re excited to share that Project Skate Hockey Club has been awarded a $4,000 grant from the Advance Brampton Fund — an incredible investment in our mission to make hockey more accessible and inclusive for youth in our community.
This funding directly supported one of the most critical and costly parts of running our free Learn to Play Hockey Program: ice time.
Ice rental fees often create a financial barrier for grassroots hockey initiatives, especially programs like ours that aim to eliminate all costs for participating families. Thanks to the generous support from the City of Brampton through the Advance Brampton Fund, we were able to cover the cost of weekly ice time for our 20-session program, allowing 25 low-income youth to learn how to skate, develop fundamental hockey skills, and most importantly, have fun in a safe and welcoming environment.
Many of these young athletes stepped on the ice for the first time this season. They were equipped with full sets of gear, provided free of charge, and coached by passionate volunteers who believe in the power of sport to build confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories.
This program is about more than just hockey — it’s about equity, inclusion, and opportunity. The $4,000 grant helped us ensure that financial constraints did not prevent a child from experiencing the joy of the game.
We’re deeply grateful to the Advance Brampton Fund for recognizing and investing in our work. Your support plays a direct role in shaping the future of these young athletes and strengthening the Brampton community through sport.
If you’d like to get involved with Project Skate Hockey Club as a volunteer, donor, or community partner, please reach out. Together, we can continue to remove barriers and build a game that’s truly for everyone.
Thank you, Advance Brampton Fund!
